My Story

Kim King, originally from Wyoming, is an American singer-songwriter based in Florida. She writes, composes and produces all of her music. She started singing and writing songs around the age of 7. In addition to singing and songwriting, she played violin in elementary school. When her parents moved her and her family from Wyoming to St. Louis, Missouri in 2000, she pursued talent competitions and was a member of several musical groups in high school. When she was in 8th grade, she made her debut on the local news channel KMOV. In high school, she was a member of Encore Choir, Show Choir, Madrigals, and also performed all 4 years of high school in the OTHS February Frolics Talent Show. She also auditioned for American Idol in: Florida, St. Louis, Tennessee, and Texas.

Kim’s style is edgy and eclectic and continues to evolve with influences from rock, pop, alternative and classical music genres. When Kim was younger, she listened to, and was inspired by, Charlotte Church. She also has been inspired by Bread, Sheryl Crow, Evanescence, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Journey, Lamya, Alanis Morissette and Queen. She later was inspired by Betty Davis, John Mayer and Grace Potter. Kim shared that she really takes inspiration from all genres and artists as she now defines herself as an independent artist. 

Kim’s debut single, "Fire away," released on May 23, 2016, showcases her songwriting skills and powerful vocals. Kim also released singles "Hide and seek" and "Sleepwalker." "Sleepwalker" has been featured on local music radio station Radio St. Pete. She is currently working on recording more original music in hopes of releasing her debut album in 2017.
